Townsville here I come

In a week or so I'm about to head off on a rather long road trip to Townsville in North Queensland. It will take 2 days to get there. I'm off to see my daughter Candice who manages a Coffee Club on the Strand, a beautiful promonade on the beach. It is brand new and only opened about a month ago, so she is looking forward to showing us (her dad and I) her baby. The trip will be beautiful. The only problem with this drive is that it goes too far from the coast. It just misses the ocean view, instead there is hundreds of kilometres of bush which does get boring after the first few hundres kilometres! It will be a great trip to document and photograph!

On the Road

On the Road magazine, an Aussie traveller's mag, has just published my article on My Favourite Place, a two-page spread with photos, of an idyllic long weekend near Byron Bay, northern New South Wales. Was interesting to see which photos the mag chose. I'll put up a copy soon. Having to go to the local library for internet while I wait to get reconnected after my move to Brisbane.

Brisbane

Brisbane, the capital city of Queensland, is a great city to live in. There is heaps to do, with many relaxing spaces to visit. I live in the inner city, only a few minutes from the central shopping precinct, the Queen Street Mall. Just across the river from my apartment is the South Bank, which is a great place to stroll along the Brisbane River, many restaurants, markets, and the Kodak Beach, a bone fide man-made beach. A great spot in a boiling hot Brisbane summer. By day or night, Brisbane (or BrisVegas as it is cheekily called) is a good looking, easy living city. Well worth a stopover if you visit Australia.

Travel article published

Pretty excited that a competition I entered on 'My Favourite Place' in On the Road magazine (Australian travelling magazine) ended up being the winner for July! Got a nice surprise when I got home to find a lovely big travel bag on wheels waiting on the doorstep! Was the first I knew of it! It'll be published in the July issue. Looking forward to reading it and seeing which photos they used. I wrote the article about a weekend away in a gorgeous French-inspired B & B in New Brighton on the Northern Coast of NSW. Was a lovely place, set right on the river. Pretty area with lots to see and do. Hopefully it's the first of many published articles...

Aussie Travel

It is really good to get a good knowledge of your own country. How often do you travel to another country and ask locals questions only to hear that they've never been to the place you ask about. But not everyone has the travel bug I know, even to see their own country.
Australia is a mighty big country and I have covered a great deal of it. Western Australia is the only state I haven't visited, but I hope to rectify that before too long.
Meanwhile, I've always lived near Noosa, one of Australia's most beautiful areas, so I often act like a tourist in my own backyard. Visit http://www.visitnoosa.com/ and you might get an idea why I love living here. I am writing an article on Noosa for gonomad, the online travel site, so I hope I soon get it finished and sent off.
Happy travelling!
